Is the annual Goose Island liars fest and show off going to happen this year? I need to get my stories straight and see if my poor neglected Broadbill will run for one more year.
I think you better go wash your mouth out with soap and think about what you just said. Maybe a "time out" will straighten your mind out. BTW My calendar shows 10/28 a Wed, just sayin.
the date was 10/24-25 AND Tom, you already penciled it on your calendar- or so you said back then. Probably good this came up now just remind some of the old fogies like yourselves what is what.
I'm coming the 24 but it begs the question, if we plan on hunting who knows the area? The last I hunted it was Armistice day 1940 and my memory isn't too good anymore

Wiz, You are one up on me there, that is once more than I have hunted the river. I will certainly need a bit of river mentoring but I really am not too old to learn a new trick.
Pete, I did pencil in those dates in but seem to have lost the calendar, we had this chat before. Remember?
OK... now that we have the banter out of the way. I was wondering what people thought about moving it from Lacrosse, to the Desoto/Lansing/Ferryville area (25-30 miles south). Perhaps we would have to rent rooms/cabins instead of using RV's, but I know Pool 9, and the Divers would be starting to arrive in mass.
Hunting is good on both the Iowa and Wisconsin side, so there would be many opportunities.
Ill be driving right by on my way to North Dakota for that week. I wish I could stop and see you guys but I already committed to hunting on the 24th in ND.
I do think moving to the pool is a good idea. Ill have to see if I can convince Phil to hunt a week later down that way.
I understand what you are saying Phil but I think the Goose Island campground is the best venue for all of us getting together, sharing a campfire, etc. Unless you know of a better place near Lansing. There are ducks up and down the river and Pool 9 is certainly within driving distance in the morning. The first day we could split up into both pools 8 and 9 and see where the birds are. That weekend is pretty early so I suspect a lot of woodies and maybe even some BWT if it doesn't get too cold before then. Hopefully cans as we get two this year, we'll see. I will be at Goose Island Campground on Thursday and stay until after hunting on Sunday or even Monday depending on the gunning.
I am also planning to be at Goose Island Thurs. I will still be set up to travel, hunt and stay in my pickup camper for that weekend. One of my big reservations is that I have never hunted the river ever and need some time to snoop around in the daylight. Any and all advice and mentoring will be gratefully accepted. Am looking forward to the get together- fire and lies and all.
