Lake Champlain proposed Duck season dates

Good morning, Kevin~

I have heard much later dates from a friend who attended the Whitehall meeting. The suspense continues....

All the best,

SJS

Good morning Steve,

Yes ,I had heard the same thing. The expressed opinion of most hunters was a later spit was preferable. Apparently Vermont Fish & Wildlife didn't agree. Long term climate data for the fall still shows a higher probability of a warmer Oct/Nov/Dec.

These are the dates I was given by our Regional Biologist who got them from VF&W.

The SE zone proposed dates for Ny ; 10/1-10/10 -11/12 -12/31. I was expecting to see something more in line with these dates for Lake Champlain .

I hope your right Bomber, the 22nd is a much better end date.

I read this off of the Vt F&W site;2016 Migratory Game Bird Season Preview. It is a draft and It does ask for comments.

Kevin~

I also heard the Champlain first half would begin on the 12th.

Closer to home, the proposed SE Zone first half opener - a week earlier than we have ever seen it - has us truly perplexed!

All the best,

SJS

The opener being proposed on the first was unexpected for us as well. Traditionally the NE opener has been the first Saturday in Oct. A few years ago looking ahead at the season formula we use it was proposed if the first Saturday was the 3rd or earlier we would move the opener to the second Saturday for the NE Zone. Most of the members proposals were for 10/8 opener.

So the first week in October will be a traveling week for me. Three openers in a week is a gift even if I will be hunting in shorts.
