Lake Guntersville Coot Mystery

I have been hunting Lake Guntersville since the early 80's even before I could drive.

I saw something Sat. I have never seen before.

Eric P. and I were hunting in a blind when a headless hunter in a boat blazed out of no where just outside the decoys at what appeared to be 60 mph.

As the boat passed we saw a sickle in one hand and a coot decoy perfectly thrown into our spread from the other.

Who could the headless hunter be ???? Thanks Mr. Russell, I'm still laughing about that "fly by".


The headless hunter continued on and was never seen again that day.

I've never heard a decoy SLAP the water that loud in all my life.

Thanks Jason. You can run over my plastics anyday if you keep replacing them with poured cork.

I figured that causing one coot to go flat, and finding a second line and anchor wrapped around the prop deserved something. I figured it would add a bit of excitement to the morning. Nothing like doing a good drive by.

I think it could be best described as a DRIVE BY COOTING.

Now if Todd Langston will take Bowen and I to "the ghetto" we'll really feel like we're hunting with some bad mofos.
