Just got a call from my mom in the UP. An article in the local paper says DNR reported a large die off of waterfowl washed ashore near Gulliver Mi. This is near Port Inland which some of you might know better than the town of Gulliver. Anyway about 200 birds washed ashore, longtails, loons, scoters you name it. Type e botulism killed them off. what a shame they say this was one of the biggest die offs in the area since 1941 when a thousand plus washed ashore.
Be careful anyone handling birds from that area.

Brad good article thanks for posting that up. I especially like the lines "Most instances of poisoning involve the consumption of marine or freshwater animals (fish, seals, whales, walrus) that have been prepared without cooking. This would include the consumption of fermented seal or walrus..."
in the immortal words of Homer Simpson.....Mmmmmmmmm fermented seal.
Now doesnt that sound appetizing?
