Kevin, Still might happen, only 2.5 years and we will be making a move. Better half still want to go to the left coast or all the way to Japan. I've been looking and have seen a good number of job postings in my field in CA. We will see.
The season started off strong, had lots of birds early and they were cooperative. Good mix too, gadwalls, mottled ducks, pintails, mallards and cans all made into my bag before New Years.
But once we had the two weeks of temps in the 70s, things went down hill quick. I think some of our gadwalls may have even went back north.
After New years we had fewer and fewer gadwalls and apparently no new ones arriving.
That plus not having any bluebills (or for the 10th years in a row, no ringnecks) made for a tough second half of the season. Like I said in earlier posts, if it weren't for redheads and buffies, I would have been done at New Years.
Decoys are packed up, blinds is stored, boats is cleaned, waders drying and hunting clothes are in wash. Time to think about next season and 3 seasons of fishing.
