Lawnmower Engine Problem

Vince, out here when you built a house they planted grass seeds. Now we have many sod farms [ instant grass lawns ]. News article, water shortage going on. Lowes owner using 7 Million gallons of water this year. GREEN GRASS $$$$$ here.

Capt. Rich, reads like it's all part of NY state "Green Initiative". The color of money. Would be funny if it were not so sad.

Its hard to diagnose by that brief description. Blue smoke is oil. Black smoke is a rich mixture. Is it possible that there are some plugged oil drain holes? I have seen engines where oil gathered around the valve stems due to an oil soaked screen and could be drawn into the engine. It doesn't take much wear on a valve stem to allow oil to pass by on the intake stroke. It might be helpful to test the compression as a high reading could indicate excessive carbon in a cylinder (burning oil). Just a thought.
