LH Remington Versa Max

Does anybody know anything about the availability of a LH Versa Max. At the Harrisburg show last February I was told by the Remington Reps the gun was in production. I'm still waiting. Spoke to Remington several times but always came up with no info. I'd like to go modern, but it looks like I'll be shooting the same LH 1100 that I have for the past 45 years or so.

My son got a new versa max last year and just got it back from them for the second time. Has not been ejecting the shells properly. Even went down to using 3" shells and was having the same problem last year. He has not taken it to the range yet to test it himself. The salesman at Cabela's said they are notorious for jamming and they do not push them as a sale.

Im not a person who sticks to brands for life. The new remington products have been ok laminated stocks on the 870's give some nasty splinters though. My buddy bought versamax last year it was failing to eject for a bit i assume "breaking in" now he has no problems with that. I like the idea of the cycling system but it blows unburnt powder ect in your face sometimes. The ports are where the reciever meets the fore-end and are quite close to your face. It nas happened with 23/4"-31/2" shells. The fit and finish is ok but it points quick feels good and definetly dampens recoil. Then again any thing dampens recoil compared to my pump, haha.

Jack,
I saw the gun listed on the website in left hand which surprised me. I have always shot left handed 11-87 and more recently a wingmaster 870 so I was excited to see they carried over making a LH version into the new product. Let us know if you get one. My 11-87 is being retired from waterfowling this year and just used to chase partridge from now on. Its served me well but I am tired of the abuse duck hunting puts it through. Ill just use the wingmaster from now on.

Bought a Versa Max last year from Bass Pro, got home and the bolt would not go foward. I brought it back to BPS, they replaced the gun and I did not have a problem with it. You do have to keep it clean or it will slow down on the ejection of shells. Otherwise no problem for now. I always have the trusty 870 close just in case.

I'll let you know if one become available to me

I have owned a VersaMax for 3 years and LOVE IT. The only problem I have had with it is the operating handle flew off the gun, but Remington sent me a new one for free.
I have had no issues with gas ejecting too close to my face or shells cycling... the gun works perfectly. The bonus is shooting a 3.5 inch shell feels like shooting a 2 3/4! My father and buddy were so impressed that they just went out and bought the new version for this season.

Tell me about it....I just picked up 3 boxes of 1 9/16 #3's for cheap and been shooting them and can feel no recoil/recovery difference from the 3"...Let's hope they go on sale ALOT in the next year!
