Another day in Whoop-Ass Alley, Oregon.

When I still lived in Gold Hill, a hen turkey with young poults ran off my 12 yr old stepson and my wife's pekinese. Turkeys have some moxie.
Where in the State of Jefferson do live?

I'm in Applegate Valley 4 miles north of Applegate on 125 acres across the road from the Missouri Flat Cemetery. Every Spring we have turkeys nesting in the cemetery area.

Heck no Joe, thats no weather vane. Thats a real working gun. You can't see it in the picture, but Dave's got a sting tied to the trigger and the other end runs into his kitchen. When the right bird steps in front of the gun, Dave just pulls the string and never has to leave the house.

Probably even sends Judy to fetch and clean the bird for him too. BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

One of only a few things I don't like about now living up in Astoria, the only wild turkeys I've found up here so far are in Fort Stevens State Park. Too many coyotes, and no oak trees, no gray squirrels either. Lots of elk and waterfowl though, and sturgeon too!

You're right Mcann. That does look like a real gun, after looking at it more carefully.Naaaah,Dave wouldn't use a string. It's too much fun making the shot with his old muzzle stuffer.Besides he goes afar to shoot a turkey.Thoes around the house are just pet breeders, and eye candy for the rest of us,not yet in heaven:^)

Good guess Joe, I found that wind vane in a junk pile about 30 years ago and one of these days I'm going to mount it on the roof. It's pretty neat, as you can see it has a hunter shooting atop the stock part.

I got that new brass 12 ga. shells primed using those old original priming/de-priming tools. They work good once you learn how to hold the brass shell right.

I had to run into town to get a new drive belt and ne wblades for the riging lawnmower. When I was about 200 yards from the entrance of our place I see a late model Jeep Cherokee type vehicle slow down and start to pull in our driveway. The two guys see me and drive on. They get well agead of me and within a mile or so they turn around in the driveway of the B&B place. I go on by them and when I go around a curve I make a quick U-turn and follow them keeping out of their sight. As I make it back to the north edge of our property I see them turning into my driveway. I kick that 8.1 litter of mine in the ass and in a flash I'm on their bumper halfway up my driveway. I step out with my 9MM stuck in my belt and ask them if they are looking for turkeys?

They are both dressed in camo, so it ain't no brainer. They said yes and I asked them if they had anu idea where they are? They said no, and I told them they were on my place.

They looked o.k. to me and I could see it was a father and his 18 year old son. They were from teh Medford area and did not know this area well. I told them to follow me and I would put them on some birds close by on State Land. They followed me up a a mile or so to where I take Sutton hunting gobbers and showed them the gate and where to go. They both shook my hand and thanked me and I told the father........no, I thank you for taking your son out hunting with you. Then I went on to town to get parts.

Way to go Dave. Not many people have the ability to take the high road, like you did. Yes, they were trespassing, but it sounds like a honest mistake. You could have just told them to get the he!! off your property and left it at that. You went beyond that and showed them a great place to hunt on public ground. You're a honorable gent!
Best, Mike

You know,my eyes are getting bad.I didn't even notice the hunter standing on the stock until I revisited it,after you bringing it to my attention. That will be neat on the roof;house or barn.I figured you would use the hand priming tool for the brass. If RCBS made shell holders for 12 and 20 ga priming could be done with various hand held or bench equipment.I used the RCBS hand held before I got my Hornady LAL progresive press.Good for you on showing the father and son where to hunt.Never know when you may meet a potential buyer.Yard work today, shoot tomorrow. Will try the 28-with.410 chamber tubes on skeet for the first time. Will be interested on the quality of the breaks.I don't expect to be impressed, but well see.
