Long Island Youth Day Hunt.

My grandson Alex made it to the youth day hunt at South Haven County Park Saturday. He had the good fortune to draw John Adams as his mentor. John is past president of South Shore Waterfowler Assoc and very familiar with South Haven Park. Alex bagged a Drake Wood Duck a couple of minutes into shooting light. Dropped him right into the decoys with the first shot and had to finish him with a followup shot. Than about 20 minutes later he bagged a Hen Wood Duck. Fired 3 shots for the day - no misses. First time hunting and only second time firing a gun. Now he talking going hunting every weekend.

Great to see the new hunter enjoying himself. They are the future of the sport. Keep up the great work!

Joe,
That photo brings back some really good memories of my sons first successful hunt. Enjoy every minute of it. They grow up fast.

Tell Alex congratulations on his first hunt and first ducks. What an exciting event for both him and you.

Joe,
Great to hear your Grandson had a good day. Nothing better. Also, What sneak box are you hunting from? I love the shape and lines.

I did a post on the rebuild. Steve Sanford has the same hull and I followed what he did on his rebuild. He did all the engineering and layout. I followed his build with mine. I believe the boat was made in New Jersey in the 1960-s. Fiberglass construction without much internal bracing.

The smile says it all, great memories for both of y'all.
Bet his Christmas list might revolve around some duck hunting gear.
