Long Island Youth Hunt

Headed out with my 13 year old son Luke, finally a cold day here on Long Island. Shortly after setting up 2 black ducks sailed in with their feet out Luke downed both with 2 shots, we stuck around for a bit and he also shot 2 brant.. Went back out for a quick late afternoon hunt and he shot a nice drake mallard.. Sad not to see any other youth hunters, in our area anyway.. Looking forward to another season out on the Long Island Marsh...

Good going there young man. Sounds like you are a natural shot or have worked at getting skilled with the shotgun. Beautiful birds.

Spectacular! You certainly had some classic Black Duck weather. I'm so glad the birds cooperated - but am getting nervous when I hear about all these young great shots coming up behind us old timers......

South Shore Water Fowlers had a few youth hunters. At Mondays meeting it was discussed and they bagged 2 black ducks.
