Some of you may already know of this ,but here goes .While shopping at home depot I found that Toro co. sells a good heavy duty leaf bag 22wide x 26" high for $13.00 each called "SPRING BUCKET",so I bought 2 they worked out fine for my long line diver decoys .They have snap buckles to hold them shut when not in use, plus two strap handles for lifting and also a shoulder strap the bottoms have hard plastic with drain holes only draw-back is a RED ring on the bag but they shure beat the quility of the cheap all green colored ones made in china, at $9.99 each, that don't hold up that good. thats it for now.Cas

Thanks for the info. Cas. I bought the cheaper bag last year and so far so good but would like the heavier duty bag for only $3 bucks more. Good deal...........Kevin

You're right Cas, those are probably the best value for the buck. I've tried the green Ace Hardware bags, and the tan Fiskars bags and found the the Toro's hold up the best. Once they are empty I collapse them and stuff them up under the front deck. That price is really good also. I'll have to go to the local HD and see if they have any more. Normal price is $19.99.

How many decoys fit in that bag?
I have my Brant decoys in cut down barrels, I guess around 30 gal size, they fit 10, but you can't collapse or nest them. My next quest is the large Garbage pails, I guess they are 35 gallon. At least you can nest them.
My Broadbill rig is on 12 decoy longlines. That's the size I need. :)

Hey, Cas, I use the red toro bags as well. real happy with them. the bottom is very sturdy. I wish they made them in square sizes.
I can fit two lines of decoys in each bag - about 24-27 decoys total. I have about 6 or 7 Mag. size and the rest are LS.
The red line color doesn't bother me, because when the bag is full, I'm not hunting, and when the bag is empty, they are under the deck and out of sight.

I also use orange "cable cuff" clips to hold the tag ends of the lines.
The large clip is on one handle:

Each bag has 3 clips, 2 small and 1 large. The large one is the one I put out first. The last end of the last line is just dropped in the bottom with the weight (first thing in the bag when retrieving them).
The 2 smaller clips are on the other handle:

George,

The Toro bags will hold about 2 dozen of the Greenhead "life size" decoys. I use mostly Toledo Decoys now and fit one Dozen of Tom's magnums in each barrel and they are a bit tight. I also have a dozen on a long line so it's handy.

Thanks Cas,
I'm on the way to home depot soon as the missus gets home. Just ordered some long line clips and some mother line from Lou Tisch at Ls&B. Lou and his wife are extremely nice to deal with.
Thanks again,
Harry

I bought one of the Toro bags this year to try out.
A little od spray paint takes care of the red.

Man I better buy 2-more this posting may cause a rush and HD will be sold out for they just got a box full delivered this week.

Okay George here goes ,After reading your question' s I went to the basement to make sure the bag did hold my 10 brant decoys which each measures 17"long x7"wide x 6" deep that includes the wood keel it was a snug fit but is okay.Next duck decoys , it will hold12-old squaws by carri- lite and 6-ring necks by green head gear and10 blue bills & red head mix,by flambue, so there you have a total of 28 decoys to the top of the bag. These bag are spring loaded and can collaps and buckle shut for flat storage. In the past I have used green colored close baskets each can hold 6to7 deeks and because ther the tapperedtype they stack into each other thus taking up the space of one plastic close basket. So you have to choose wisely to your needs and costs.Itried the plastic garbage cans {two} end found them not to my liking, to much space and to much noise.

Quane,I like the idea of the cable cuffs where did you buy yours? Your right once the bags close shut I stowe them in bow area of[THE HAWK]tdb which I bought from Less Brack in Kansas this past Oct.realy love that boat its awsome tho its a displacement craft my 15 h.p. mercury will get it up on plane with me the 90#Lab "buster" and gear, Ihad it out in 3foot chop waves and handled well, great boat.

Thanks Cas, Those will work, I had ordered those green, super tough, large size bags through Amazon, They were waaay too small. I'll see if my 4 Home Depots got them in yet.

If you ever wonder why HD complains about losing money, maybe they shouldn't open a store every 5 miles, lol.

Thanks again. George

Hi George,
I got my lines from Doctari: http://www.doctarilonglines.com/products.html
It is a tarred line, and works well even in the cold. Have been happy with the service etc. as well.
I bought the professional guide series. I have both the long drop (36" ) and the short drop (18").
I am going to change all my lines to the 18" drop, since they are easier to manage and don't tangle up.

Dave

i use tarred lines -- it looked like the main line was pretty hefty compared to what i use -- just wondered what size it was

i use the torro bags -- fold em up and outta d way when empty -- gives us more room to move on the boat -- hold up well also to the wear and tear cold weather brings

Bought the last two they had at the Greenville NC store. Had to pay $13, but I think they are more than worth it. HD guy said most of the bags were sold to duck hunters.
Thanks again for the heads up,
Harry
