Longer Kayak Paddle

I have read that for boats wider then most Kayaks -Momarsh, Four Rivers etc..A 9 foot paddle is favored. I welcome thoughts or comments and suggestions on where to find one. the longest I can find is 230cm or about 7 ft. As always I value the feedback

Bill,

I use a 240 cm kayak paddle with my Momarsh Fatboy. It works well if you are knealing in the boat. The only problem is when I dig in with one blade, the other blade is over the cockpit and the water drips into the boat (or on the dog). If you can find a longer paddle, I'd get one just so that the water will not drip into the boat.

Exactly... I have what I think is a nice 230cm it works well however a good bit of water drips into the boat. Where can I find a 9 footer

get one of these, its a one foot extension for a carlisle paddle.

If water dripping is your only reason for going longer do what we have done and put a rubber cuff out on each side of the handle.

You could make your own to whatever length you want. I have made several canoe and one kayak paddle with a failry simple lamination design. I can post some pictures tonight if you're interested.
