Longline crimps

I don't use crimps. It is more work but I braid the clips and decoys onto the droppers. I also braid loops on the ends of the long lines. I use 120 twisted tarred lines and they never untie, snag,or damage my cork birds.
It's definitely more work but you only do it once, John

Jack, how do you put the friction tape on??? What does the friction tape do? Markers for spacing? Won't the long line clips hold from slipping?

On my main line I tie 2 overhand knots about 3" apart about 6' OC. That is where the clip goes. To do a tuck just open one strand of your dropper ( if you were fishing its called a snood) about 3" from the end of your line and tuck the end thru open another strand about an 1" away and tuck it thru The friction tape makes it nice and smooth no snags, shrinks in the water, it was the original shrink tubing. I cant take credit for the friction tape I read about it in Zack Taylors "Successful Water Fowling" when I was a teenager. That's when Whales still had feet. It's been working for me ever since.

OK, this is totally anal, but I tie knots in my longlines every (10) ten feet or so.

Agreed, all my sea duck lines have knots for the weighted dropper clips to hook into, and slotted bags as they stayed connected for the season.
