Looking at a Suzuki 16-hp 2-stroke - any feedback?

I've never had anything to do with Suzuki 2 strokes but there's one available locally and it's size and weight matches what I'm looking for. Parts still seem available. Any good / bad experiences out there?

Thanks,
Scott

I never heard of a 16HP Suzuki, maybe you mean 15.
Anyhow, I have had Suzuki's for many years 9.9s , 40's , and big 200's
In my opinion they are damn near bulletproof and easy to maintain and repair yourself

Scott,

I run a 25hp 2 stroke on my duck boat and when it's not on the duck boat it's on my inflatable CRRC 450. Great motor. Starts on the first or second pull in dead of winter or the middle of summer. It also has a red indication light on the front of the motor to tell you if its overheating and it will also drop the rpm's down if it's not running right.
This is my only Suzuki and it has been problem free for several years. Parts are also easy to get.

Geo, Thanks for the input. And yes it's a 16, I have seen both pictures and looked it up on the net. It was made between 77 and 82. Other than being painted blue it looks good.

John, Thanks for your input. Good news is good news.

Thanks guys,
Scott

Hey Scott,
A buddie of mine has a 16hp just like you're looking at. He has had it since new and it has been
abused regularly both hunting and fishing. The only thing it's needed is a pull rope or two and the
kill switch quit working (fell apart). The Suzuki's have a nice solid feel to them and I got a 15 for my
broadbill and love it.
That red ,white and blue motor even looks comercial, John
