If Ed can't find it I might have it. Actually Thomas might. I gave him all my old copies.

By the way I was at Gander Mountain a few months ago and picked up a copy of Wildfowl. I didn't even recognize the magazine. I kid you not it's easily 80% advertising and on top of that one of the few article actually written was nothing more than product reviews. For fun I ought to grab an old copy and compare it to a new one in terms of pages/ads/articles. Glad I dropped my subscription years ago because it is not something I'd care to get in my mailbox anymore. I already make a stop by the garbage can to throw away junk mail before it goes in the house and Wildfowl is on par with junk mail.

Mark, I might be able to bring a copy out to Browns Valley week from Saturday. THAT WOULD BE 10 TEN DAYS FROM NOW, WOOOHOOO. Bring your sunscreen and DEET. This early opener is nuts! I hope the ducks have their flight feathers by then. Is your tin boat ready? Can't wait to see her. One of my brothers is going to hunt with me this opener and I am looking forward to that too.

I stopped subscribing in 2001 for the very same reasons you mentioned, Eric.

I still have a good number of back issues, though I sent a bunch overseas when they were looking for outdoor magazines for the troops.

I have it, because I remember the article. FINDING it since I moved, will be one helluva treasure hunt, as I have tons of waterfowl related magazines. I stopped getting the magazine years ago.

Anybody remember Waterfowlers World Magazine? I have every copy, and when they went under I had just renewed!

ME ME ME!! I too renewed and never got another issue. Not sure why they went under. Don't think they were around very long but I'd imagine the mid to late 80's were not the best of times for those in the waterfowling industry. That and they were not as smart as Wildfowl in figuring out how to supersaturate their mag with ads...

Hey Eric - either your a Old Timer like I am. or you got addicted to Waterfowling very early in life. The magazine was around for at least 5-6 years, and I do believe the first to be exclusively for
waterfowlers. It had some Great Covers, especially the one of the stack of Susquehanna Flats Decoys. It was ahead of it's time, and no doubt suffered from high production costs........
Even though I got beat out of a few $$, it was worth the price. Just another tidbit of waterfowling history during our life time. Since your post, I'm Smiling about it. Thanks!

I was a college student in the mid to late 80s and liked getting DU and Waterfowlers World in my PO box. Gave me something to read while procrastinating the studies.

I remember taking a course called Conservation Geography and the prof. gave us the assignment of writing a summary about 10 conservation organizations. Well lo and behold a DU magazine arrived about that time and it had a run-down article on other conservation organizations. Got an A and never had to go to the library to do my research. That copy of DU had everything I needed. Back then I considered myself lucky to have that info at my fingertips. Now with Google I doubt a prof. would give out anything that easy.

Me too Eric, I loved getting that in the mail . Saved a copy with a good article on Layout shooting

thats where I lived as a freshman at SIU

I was in my 30's, working in a Steel Mill, after 5 years of College. Teaching wasn't for me, it cut to deep into my hunting, especially Duck & Goose hunting. In a college conservation course I did do a lengthy paper about the history of Pymatuning, and the Goose Refuge, pioneered by Ray Sickles, and the PA Game Commission. Still a DU member and commiteeman, since 1968. Love the DU magazine.
Have boxes Full of them.
