Looking for new way to rig decoys

Between my own decoys and friends rigs, I get to pick-up lots of different decoy rigging. I am not a j weight fan. They rubber straps weather and break. The j-hooks really drag in vegetation.

For simplicity and speed, I like Texas rigs. The egg sinkers and the coated cable seem to tangle the least. Once on the carabiner just throw one overhand knot in the cables. I bag most my decoys so even my decoys with Texas rigs get wrapped individually and dropped in a slotted bag.

The big water blinds are still putting out 100 to 300 decoys. Man I don't miss those days. At most I use a doz. Mallards, 5 green wing teal and 6 geese. All Texas rigged in bags. Carbineer and a knot in the mono. Depending on location I have lines rigged from 3ft to 15ft. One island I hunt on the channel, the depth is 3ft deep, 2ft from shore and 12ft deep 4 ft from shore. No wading! Unfortunately 3 kids were messing around on this island this summer and went in. 2 were rescued and 1 drowned. Very sad. The Mississippi River can be unforgiving! She demands a lot of respect!

I ha ve had good results with southern flyway outfitters decoy raft on blue bills. They are quick to deploy and pick up ,they fold up and become the decoy bag, don't know how they would work in mallard country. Good Hunting FW Harris
