Looking for small 12V winch

Found all kinds of winches that will pull 1500 lbs or more and then found some small 1/10th scale size winches for rc stuff. I'm looking for a winch that could pull 250lbs up a 45 degree ramp. Would be a dream winch if it could be wired into the trailer outlet but I am pretty sure there is not enough wire there to supply the power needed.

Anyone know of anything of the sorts?

Thanks

There's a guy on Craigslist selling attachments to use a cordless drill for boat trailer winches. He's from Willmar, can't think of the name of the company.

Warn makes a battery powered one. about 350.00

Never heard of these. Looked them up and may work very well. Know of any other models than the Warn winch that seems to be very popular.

If you could remember his name that would be great. Thanks

I suggest you stay with MFG. POWER WINCH CO. Various marine stores carry them or look up their web site. They make various models to suit your needs . A Lot less problems.

Mark, I would be happy to show you my setup for ramps that I do not feel confident I will be able to pull out from with my compact ft wheel drive car, tow strap and clever use of my spare tire (also allows me to carry a spare wheel hub for the trailer ready to go, just in case) Worked like a champ for me last year when I used it

Should have mentioned. This is to get my ice house back into the back of my vehicle when out on the lake. Thing weighs probably close to 175lbs loaded and it is getting to much for me to get into the back by myself. I an already see other uses for a nice portable winch as well.

i do own a 2500lb winch I thought I could use but it require wiring from the battery, or a separate battery, and there has to be an easier way. Would be much easier if my battery wasn't loaded under the passenger front seat.

I know it's not electric, but for that small amount of weight and limited use, why not mount a hand winch on the front of the bed and wind it up.

Don't have a pick up yet, own a Jeep. Hand cracking in the back of a Jeep is not easy to do.

I can also see other uses for this winch such as storing the ice shack when not in use, citing boats up to their storage space and so on.

winchdrivertools.com ... Took a little time on the googles, but I found it.

So now the question is, if this is to winch a shack into the back of a jeep, how/where are you mounting the winch? Inquiring minds are very curious.

First things first. There is a guy who mounted a whole 2500 lb winch and battery inside his shack and then ran a cable to a device he made inside him vehicle. Wow, bet that weighs a ton for the ice house.

I think I have a couple of options for mounting the winch. I am also looking to get back into owning a pick up which would make this whole issue much easier.

Thanks for the link Nick.

Harbor freight has what you're looking for. And as power if you have a 7 pin you can wire it into your 1 o clock pin that should be constant 12v. I Dont think your application will pull much amperage.
Or check out Harrington hoists they sell a 1/4 ton chain fall that works great for your application as long as you have a nice pick point. Pm me with any questions I worked in the rigging field

I use the portable for everything, it's like having two helpers but they don't drink all the beer. From lifting platforms to well pumps, hoisting a pile of deer or lifting the septic tank cover.Plus it's a Warn

Good morning, Mark~

Interesting post!

Would a come-along work? Like the block-and-tackle guys, I like simple. The ratchet in a come-along adds a bit of safety for a 1-man show.

All the best,

SJS
