To the most Splendid of Ladies and Fine, Outstanding Gentlemen on this sight,

This is not really duck related but it does put me into one of the prime stop of the Mississippi Flyway...I took an offer with Gardner-Denver Thomas...I will actually be working the Thomas Division in Monroe, LA...I know some of you guys from the sight live in the region...Just wanted to tell you that I handle very well as a deck hand...Tossing dekes, moving dekes, retrieving ducks in neck deep muck, pouring coffee, and possiblly some help with the calling side...

Kind of scared in some senses of having to pick-up and move...Though it is an adventure in life it is still tough to start over...Will be boatless this season due to keeping my BBSB within the confines of the Doc McCullough Man Lair Rental Storage Facility in the great Commonwealth of Kentucky...Kind of begging, asking to tag along on a few hunts if I can in the area...Have some hand carved decoys to throw into the spread, mulitple shotguns that I can share, and plenty of cases of #2s to get through the season...Plus wo of the most beautiful black girlfriends, BG and Gracie, that won't hestitate to heel by my side through any weather...

Start work on the 1/4/09...Will have to work various shifts due to my position...Have to come accustomed to the manufacturing and the people in the plant...On those 2nd shifts and 3rd shifts my mornings are free...

If anybody in the area has a rental...I will rent for at least 3-6 months until I find a house in the area...Once I get settled, anybody is invited to come down to share the 2010-2011 Duck season...

I'm 30 minutes away in Ruston.
I don't have time to hunt anymore but can give you a pretty good lay of the land for the outdoors here.
I can hook you up with some great guys to hunt with.

There are some rentals over this way if you don't mind the 1/2 hour commute. Can't really help you with rentals in Monroe.

Congrats on the new job. I know I've told you my wife is from Clinton, MS which isn't too far E on I20. Maybe we can get together for some carving when duck season is over and I'm down there visiting family.
 
I'm in Lafayette, which is a fair distance, but if you're headed this way sometime, let me know. Right now, my gigs for geese are kinda up in the air. If they get worked out you're more than welcome to come down for a goose hunt.

Congrats on the job Kristan. My little trailer is packed and I'll be headed south next week myself. It can be a brain tease with the logistics but you'll do fine. To bad you're not coming north. I at least have a rental open where you could park your boat at the dock. Anyway good luck.

This is one civilized group! First time I traveled to Mississippi back in 81, I wasn't on site 15 minutes before the millwrights asked if I knew the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee.

Moving to Fun-roe, huh?

When you get to the Arkansas border, be ready for the traffic stop. They check to see if you have all of your own teeth (a sure sign of a non-native), and if you don’t have a banjo, they have one you can “borry” for the duration of your stay in our fine State. Oh, and they take a DNA sample to see if you might be suitable "breeding stock"...

I can hear it now, “Sach-are, Satch-er….” “No, sir, Sacharnowski…” “Sack-a-what? You just call me sumthin’, boy?! Ah hope yer tough with a name like that…and yer first name’s Kristen…that’s a purty girl’s name right there…yeah, they gonna lak you in Looo-sanna…here…put this banjo in there…don’t let the dogs break it…”

On a serious note, you’ll be 2.5 hours or so south of my house. The roads aren’t great, but they are better than they were. I have a shop that is heated and cooled and has a refrigerator…that still has some Yuengling in it, too…

When you get situated and get your mind geared towards hunting, let me know. We’ll go chase a few birds, and I’ll even take you out after some black and white ducks so you don’t go through withdrawals…

Good luck with your new job. I'm sure you'll do fine with the southern girls "cuz ya got all yer teeth." On a serious note, buy your airline ticket for Westlake soon so you'll get the best rates:)

Congrats on the new job and hope you get settled in real quick. I'm sure Dutch will get you lined up on spots and others have offered also. While it has been a few years since I hunted there If you need I can direct you to some good areas.
 
My guess is that you will not be attending the Goldeneye class at the end of Jan............You will be missed....especially the poppers and your earl paints. Good luck on the new gig.

OHOHOH, Mr. Carter I know the answer to that one.

A damn Yankee is one who doesn't leave town immediately after being addressed thurly.
