Mag Mallard Head source

My wife bought me a goose mold in January. It came with a goose head mold, I cut one down thinking I could make it work but it’s not quite right. There’s the molds on eBay and there’s a mag mallards head that’s 7” bit no picture of it . For $70-$80 I forget how much, I don’t wanna buy it and it bothers me be what I’m looking for.

Anyone have A head source or know of a mold that will look proportional on a 21” body?

If I recall Mighty Layout Boys use to sell a head to work on super mag decoys that might work. Maybe a mold cast off those. They are long out of business but i,m sure their heads still exist as they are about the toughest i,ve seen.

I have goose mold heads, but you dont want the goose head mold? Im confused, what are you trying to accomplish? I have ideas, and if life allows, im going to do some experimenting to make some heads for the 21" body, as I too have an old decoys unlimited mold very similar to the one you have posted. Are you wanting a low head to fit the body and have a seamless transition? Also, whats your plan for a keel or a eyebolt for your decoy line on that bird? How do you plan on painting, (airbrush or hand paint, flocking or non-flocked)? Only reason im asking all these questions, your release agent is going to make or break you for your next steps. Shoot me a DM, I can hopefully help you in your next steps before you get too far and too frustrated.

If you are looking for wood heads, I used to buy my heads from autumn wings. Not sure how they will fit to your body, no guarantees with that. Heres a link to their website of goose heads

sorry, was late when I posted. To me the cut down goose head doesn’t look great. I restle coated five bodies already. They’re all just gonna get a hacked up Steve Sanford paint job .(not saying Steve’s a hack, my interpretation will be!). I just want a mallard head that’s proportionate to the body. I might try and carve one out of foam board, drywall mud it and sand and silicon mold it, but to be honest it would probably be cheaper to order a $70 head mold by time I get through all that.

I could also just make the goose heads from 8-16lb foam and seal with it. If a duck can see it’s off I should had the opportunity to scare it at the point.

Thanks Tony

Cheap way- buy heads

Right way- carve, build make your own with your own mold and cast as many as you want. One mold per head design, yes can be expensive.

Modest, messiest way- buy the metal mold, cut to your liking, take scrap foam and glue in place with gorilla glue, let expand, shape/sand to your liking, finish bird. Dont like glue and scrap foam idea, use bondo for seamless transitions between body and neck. Also allows you to build and sand neck area to your liking. Lots say that works really well.

I have several magnum mallard heads. I will send photo but maybe next week. Going out of town tomorrow so might not have time. Happy to sell for $5/piece and shipping.

Ok, well after you guys all told me to not be a baby and just carve my own head to mold(stop being cheap, lazy , etc….). I glued up foam Wednesday night. Luckily for me I don’t have a band saw😂. 10” sawzall blade, a sharp knife, rasp and some sandpaper and I got this.

Glued up another 4x8 block cuz I don’t love the bill and took the eye “shoulder” to far back. Or at least to me it looks that way. Hunting partner said maybe the bill is too wide?

Anyway hit me with your opinions. First head besides these monster 2x6 bluebill err I mean broadbills I made years ago for big carved foam bodies
