I have been a major lurker on this site for over a year. A Pic of a Gator boat I built last year and have been enjoying. I have found this forum to be one of the best and enjoyed reading many great posts. I purchased plans to build the Devlin Pole Boat and Mr. Thomas Scholberg was kind enough to send me a CD of his build THANK YOU! I just finished the Gator and DH build over the last year and a half and the Pole Boat will have to wait a while. Boat building is definately addicting.

Mark; I realy like the gator boat ,very nice boat building on your part .I was wondering how much does it weight, what does it draw fully loaded, what size motor will it take? I'm iterested ,looks like what I need to hunt a certain area of mine? thanks

Cas, it weighs about 110lbs. It draws 3 " fully loaded, I push pole it through wet mud. It handles- tracks really well paddling. I have been very pleased with it. It is designed for a foot controlled trolling motor but could take a lightweight 2 hp motor. I have been debating the trolling motor vs. a 2 HP for a while. I have enjoyed just paddling and push poling it around. It will really get through the skinny water.

Mark,
I agree with Cas and WisPete those are both very nice.
What motor will you run on the Duck Hunter and is the
grab bar removeable?
Nice Work,
WG

Very nice looking boats that you built. My question would be, how close to the amount that they said the materials would cost did you get when you built them?

Mark - Thanks for this post. The duckhunter is a very good looking design. I wonder how it would handle some chop - say 1-2 footers ?

Motor: 16 HP go devil motor bought used $ 1,500.00 runs great and I get about 18 MPH out of it. The stated costs on the web sight are out dated. If you use marine plywood etc and go all out I spent about $ 2,100.00 on the DH and $ 475 to $ 500 on the Gator. I took it across pass Manchac in a 1 foot chop handled fine. I would not know any more weather than that. I believe Brad of Toller Boat works has taken his into some rougher seas.
