Making Decoys by Grayson Chesser

I decided to pick up a used copy of Making Decoys by Grayson Chesser. My typical ordering protocol has been to purchase my books through Amazon used books. I simply pick a used copy based on price point. Well, to my surprise the book came in this weekend and when I opened it up, I found that it was autographed by Grayson Chesser. He even thought to wish me luck!

Neat surprise.

I just got mine in the mail too! I ordered a new one since the price was right, mine wasn't autographed though... :(

That is indeed a very cool find. If it is autographed in pencil the "good luck " only applies to the original owner. If it is signed in ink then the "Good Luck " follows the book where ever it goes.

Fortunately for me it the good luck and signature was done in pen :)

I am hoping it will serve to help me make my first decoys this spring and summer.

That book is all I had when I started carving 20 years ago. The rest of it I figured out on my own, but the craft of constructing a working decoy is right there in that book. I think carvers starting out should begin with the basics and not move on to complications and confusion until they can carve a well built gunner. You'll enjoy it!

Thanks Geoff. That's my hope. . .to build some good gunners and hunt my own rig. Rather than the plentitude of plastic made in China that I hunt over right now.
