I got 4 coats of sealer on these GE's this AM. I've been hacking away at them all winter and it is good to be at this stage. I just love the grain of this wood, and it is kind of a shame to paint over it, but I think they work better when painted. : )
In keeping with my tradition of using scrounged wood, all of the heads but one are made of tamarack that I got from the SE Yukon near Watson Lake years ago. It worked a lot like spruce. The other head was made from basswood.
Check out the opposing grain on the tails of these two. Which one do think will be stronger?
I wanted to get these painted up today, but I'm out of white paint right now. The doc said no driving for about another week, so I have to wait until someone can give me a ride to the hardware store.

PS One misc eider that I've been working on for a while as well.
