Mallard Decoy - Something new and different

Sometimes it's good to get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. I think you improve as you attack things from a different angle. This Mallard was ordered with a more contemporary shape. Not my usual for sure.

The customer also wanted it to be the final resting place for his lab that passed earlier this year. It's the first decoy urn I have done. Between trying something different, and the importance of the end product, I was motivated to make it good one. Very satisfying when it comes together.

Cedar, oils, and a lot of TLC...

No, but the paint and the smile on that duck's bill has your style all over it. Very cool!

I can see your style in the bird but a change in your paint from the normal. Very nice bird Geoff

Geoff,
I was thinking of the total comfort that you gave your customer when this project was finalized. For him to have this on display in his home only signifies the importance of that retriever in his life/family's lives.

Thank you for the great comments guys. I really enjoyed the project and hope it's many years before I have to make one for my own lab...
