Has anyone on the site built a melonseed gunning skiff, what plans are good. thanks,Bill

Perry, I believe the Mystic Museum will have the traditional plans you can buy. There was a guy in Mass who was building a fiberglass sailing version that was beautiful and expensive. I think his name was Crawford. Good luck, Jim

Bill, While searching the web for BBSB plans and offsets. I kept running across the Mellonseed. I have some plans for a Mellonseed Stitch and glue. The plans were drawn by Phillip Maynard and on his web site. He took the original lines and through a long process figured out how to cut the plywood and build a Mellonseed using stitch and glue. He does not charge for the plans. There is a fellow that makes Mellonseeds out of fiber glass but he does not sell plans. I just installed a program yesterday called google sketch up. A free program for those of us who are ignorant of cad programs. You should be able to take a picture of a Mellonseed and get the lines from it and send to someone with a better cad program and get the offsets. You might be able to do it in sketch up. I don't know yet. I think the Mellonseed would make a excellent duck boat, probably more seaworthy than a BBSB. Definitely larger. I see you were over to Wooden Boat Publications. They know a lot about building wooden boats but sure don't know about duck hunting, daah. If I can be any help Bill PM me Pete

the woodenboat magazine did a article in 2005 on the melonseed. also the book by howard chapelle American Small Sailing Craft has lines and offsets. The print is good enough with copier you could blow the lines and offsets to be read
