Please consider joining us at the Midwest Decoy Collectors Show on April 25-26, 2014 at the Pheasant Run Hotel and Conference Center in St. Charles, Illinois. http://midwestdecoy.org/

This year in Carver's Corner on Saturday April 26th...
[*]10:00am - Geoff Vine - Carving Traditional Decoy Bodies. [*]11:00am - Cameron McIntyre – Discussion regarding the “Life Among Ducks” Display. [*]12:00pm - Pat Gregory - Traditional Michigan Feather Stamping a Decoy Body.

Pat for those that can't make it, any chance of the Carver's Corner being video taped and maybe posted on Duck Boats?
Would really love to see how you use those feather stamps.
Thanks of the lead on the book, same has been ordered from Amazon.

Best - Paul

Pat-

I won't be able to make it either, but would love to see the feather stamping and Geoff Vine's presentation on traditional decoy bodies.

Would love to come out, but that is a long drive for me right now.

I plan to try tape several portions of the MDCA show. I would like to produce a segment on the highlights of this year's show (similar to what we did last year), would like to get an interview with Jon Deeter of Guyette, Schmidt & Deeter, highlights of Geoff's talk, a how to piece on the Feather stampiing, and hopeully some information on handcarved fish decoys (a new feature of Carvers Corner this year).

I'll post these up on http://www.thedecoyshed.org/ and will let everyone on this site know when they are available.

Should be another great event in St. Charles.

If anyone is able to make the show stop by our tables and introduce yourselves.

Man, I can't wait to hit the road on Friday night! There will be 4 of us racing down from SW Michigan on Friday for 30,000 decoys and good friends. Pat, that's a great line-up for Saturday and I'm looking forward to seeing you guys next weekend. Wahooo!!!

Ill be there too. If any one needs to find me I'll be Andrew Menz's 1 man (and growing) entourage. I heard a rumor that Jeff VanderVeen will be in attendance as well. This is gonna be one for the record books!

I am looking forward to seeing Pat's feather stamping seminar. Even though I am not into Michigan decoys, I still like the feather stamping on them.
I am looking forward to meeting some more "duckboats" guys.

By the way, I will not have any Wildfowler Decoys done for the show, but I will have some Wildfowler Decoys t-shirts and an assortment of old decoys for sale at my table.

certainly looking forward to the show after missing last year. Not sure where I'll be set up this year in the MegaCenter but anxious to reconnect....

After saying several times I'm going to this show and one thing or another has prevented me from attending I decided this year not to mention it. Well I finally made it this year! It was my pleasure meeting both Pat Gregory and Tim Speight finally. I looked for other members but the show was huge and a bit over whelming. It took me a good two hours to make it through and see the many great carvers and collectors alike. I'm sorry I missed you other guys. As Pat mentioned in anther thread I'm sure there will be plenty to see. Here's a few pictures I took starting with a shot of Pat doing his feather stamping. I wish I could have taken a picture of every table. I even had plans to buy but as luck would have it. I ran across an older Four Rivers Refuge Runner in great shape for sale and being the duck boat junky I am I just had to have it. Maybe next year I'll get my decoys. For now here are some teasers while Tim and Pat add their pictures.

Great job bringing that Ducker to the show - I think every decoy show needs more boats!

One of my most vivid images from my first-ever decoy show the old U S National on Long Island circa 1965 - was a Sneakbox as soon as you walked in the door. We will be making sure duckboats are featured in future LIDCA (antique decoys mostly) shows.

All the best,

SJS

Thanks Steve

The Ducker drew a lot of attention. This is such a great show! As an example I had been looking and watching for an original set of oars for my boat. Lo and behold one of the vendors at the show had a pair.

Many, many wonderful decoys along with a tremendous group of people.

Make plans to attend next year if you haven't been.
