Awesome stuff.

Ummm Shermie....
Those aren't beach rocks I see in the fireplace are they?
Better hope no-one from Coast Guard or Fisheries sees them. ;)
TSK TSK...lol

Hey Neil, Shermie,

Is it illegal to pick up rocks of a beach? Is that a law?

Any of you ocean people - Is it illegal to do here too?

Shermie, you're going to hunt over those right? Please don't tell me you are going to make them live their lives on the mantle. That is kind of like having a great hunting dog that never leaves the house.

Jeeze i didnt know we couldnt pick em up in the" Parking lot" we paint them with scenes me and makayla.the ones on the mantle are painted by my aunts brother.he also made the center piece ,the stone is from down cape breton way.

heres a funny story Neil ,on the stones,i was out hunting with rob for the day down chezzetcook,i had promised makayla that i would pick up some stones flat ones for her to paint, but as the day went we were hunting the flats so no stones there,at the end of the day with boat and trailer behind me i drive down to the beach back up to the edge so i can put my headlights on the stones.which just happen to illuminate part of the beach as well ,so from a distance i imagine it looked like a drug pick up as i went back and forth with arms full of stones i then put in the boat it was like 11 at nite mind you.

I have my stash stowed in the boat and im heading home its and 1 and 1/2 hour drive on the highway.I get almost on the ramp heading on to the highway and i see a rcmp flying up the other ramp heading toward where i just come from.I thought then and there someone must of thought it was drugs on the beach ,,i laughed all the way up the highway until i saw another one coming at me with lights on just a flying,,he didnt turn around and come after me so i kept trucking my illegal stash for mickey home....

well the rocks were not on the beach they were around a fire pit on the turn around "road" and ill swear it till i die....

Charlie...
as for hunting them harlies im afraid they will sit in honor where they are for a long time.because i do not want to deal with an officer saying heres your fine for hunting a bird there is no season for...dekes out, your hunting them ,heres your fine and ill take all your gear too...and truck...

no season for them here...

as for the hoodie it was never float tested it was made for the shelf and a keel would cover over what my uncle wrote on the bottom to me..

just means ill have to buy more for the water eh mike??

shermie...

It is illegal here in Nova Scotia to alter/remove/change any waterway/shoreline.
I don't believe anyone has ever been charged for taking a couple of stones and I would think it may only ever happen is extreme case of people taking truckloads.
In that instance it could be very damaging to shorelines through erosion and stuff.
I tried to search some info out this is all I could come up with...
I garuntee the hurdles for permits would be plenty....I'm sure..

I have a brook running through my yard, there is a bridge/road across it and lastyear in a flood the boulders supporting them were washed out.
The Dept of Highways had a real time replacing them and the ones that came out were NOT allowed to be moved.
They now sit in the brook and are re-directing the water at my property in places and I asked them while there with the machinery to remove them.
I was told NO and two days later got a visit from the Dept Environment guys and told about the fines I would suffer if I moved them or altered anything(they have pictures)..even though the brook is now eroding MY property the fines + cost of putting them back is alot more than I want to spend.
Good spot for a trout to hangout behind one of them tho....I'll go check...

GONE FISHIN'.....lol

LOL Shermie...
You bet it was probably a call put in to Coastal Watch for drugs.
We get them all the time at work (Coast Guard) usually false alarms and just yacht's anchored or partiers/people parking.

Coulda been the rocks though most caostal dwellers have a good set of bino's stowed right on the window ledge.
Imagine some retiree spying you all cammoed up sneaking around at 11pm at night on a beach...911..911..911

ya im chuckling now just thinking about it ,me all hunched over carrying a bunch of stones at once trying not to drop any you know how round and smooth and slippery they are, then hurring like i was to get it done as it was cold and get back in the truck ,hehehehehe,it would have been funnier ifin i had of been there when they camandoed me ,....

now me dad has a way to fix said guys who are hellbent on being an arse.i would just simply keep droping stones from my garden into the edge of my property ,they must of washed out from there rocks directing the flow at my property..

i also think there maybe a legal recourse with them by sending a bill to them for a containment barrier and the loss of said properties of Neil Green, due to recent changes made after the flood by the department of highways and the enviroment and if that doesnt work my favorite is to call live at 5 news station and complain about they way they are handling things....

jeeze i just thought of another thing

since they have pictures then it will show how much property you have lost after the next big flood dumb arses....you will win my son ....

Already thought of that and mentioned it to the G-Men that showed up...
"The Changes" happened "NATURALLY" due to the flood thats why they themselves couldn't move the rocks back that were there in the first place holding up the bridge.
It's not gonna do a whole bunch of damage and the brook is about 50ft below the house so no problems that way.
Who knows an industrious beaver may move in upstream a bit and the brook may dry up...just long enough of course...that I can legally make some changes.
Mr. Beaver can stay for a while but....unfortunately for them they make EXCELLANT bear bait...bears love beaver...:)
