Minnesota vs Iowa,,,,,,,,, fishing related

I'm with Steve on this one. I live in a nice cold place and I love fishing... but if I want to fish in February I go somewhere warm. I can wait for spring and a nice warm day to hit the water.

I can walk five minutes and see ice huts all over the lake but not once have I felt the urge to join them.
 
One has to remember that not all Iowegians are honest folks. They have to flip a coin 6 times to assign delegates and all 6 coin tosses went to one person - what are the odds in an honest world? At least I had some reference as to the size of my fish and Dave even admitted it takes skill to land them that small. All I saw was a ruler where the inch could really only be a centimeter, or less - in other words he has a fabricated ruler. And laying the fish out on a piece of paper, I didn't see a date on that paper anywhere. Could have been caught years ago for all I know...... Just saying.......


As far as cold when fishing. Not these days anymore. Ice houses with heat is the only way to go. Some still fish on a bucket and out in the open and dress accordingly but that would be miserable to me as well. When it is a nice sunny day and temps in the low 30's that sitting on the ice is very pleasant and peaceful. What's weird is I have no issue sitting outside at well under freezing to hunt ducks but sitting outside to catch fish at the same temps doesn't thrill me.


All kidding aside, those are nice fish. I've not brought home any that size this year. 10" crappies are not all that uncommon and I can catch 50 of them in an evening on a typical outing but not this year. Caught one walleye, a few sunnies, a couple of perch and maybe 35 crappies all season. Nothing worth taking home. Had some great conversations and the Captain Cokes just taste so much better out on the ice for some reason.

I'll have you know that is my most prized ruler. I only measure two things with that ruler, fish and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well, I won't mention the other thing.
 
You are a fabricator right?


Had to come up with something to defend myself and believe it or not, I have seen fake rulers. Only in Iowa however.
