MN Opener Pics

Dad and I hunted an area of MN new to both of us. the portage in was over 200 yards and on Saturday I rowed a mile and a half each way. It rained all day. We saw a fair number of ducks and had a few opportunities, but too few. I mistakenly popped a hen mallard and that was it for opening day. Sunday we didn't go as far from the landing and had a rookie along for the ride. Very very little activity in the way of birds seen or shots heard on Sunday. One more mallard (a drake at least!) in the bag Sunday. Amazingly enough, for a public marsh in MN, everyone was very friendly and no one crowded anyone. We did not observe anyone with any large bags of ducks. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

Sounds more like my usual opening days. Were you shooting that Nice shot? I get mine today
so I'll be loading up some low pressure stuff for our opener next saturday!!
Thank your dad for the loading help!! John

Looks like you had a good weekend. Nice to see the decoys hearing gunfire! Overall did they meet with approval? Thanks for posting the pics.

Jon - We were "testing" a shot called ITX in #4. I thought it really shot well, but unfortunately didn't get a lot of chances to put it to work. Will pass along the message to RLR, but he probably already saw it here.

Paul - I really like those blocks! I took a bunch of pics, mostly of the drake mallards because I love the fact that you put your name above the water line, and it doesn't show up as clearly on the hens. So check out the link below the pics - you are welcome to use those pics, or if you can't lift them, I'll email them to you . . . just give proper credit to the photographer! And of course, if you need more action pics of your dekes, just send a few my way and I'll be happy to photograph them!
