Montana?

Howdy - I moved to Billings, MT! In between the move I went to work in AK guiding for the 11th year on the Sandy River! Montana is great. Not so much for duck hunting around Billings. I'm finding a few, shooting some. Getting a driftboat soon. Going through p/u truck withdrawal. I now drive a 2014 4Runner, and love it. Was planning on heading N. around Ft Peck and some NWR near Glasgow but fear they are frozen. No big deal. After xmas I'm driving to WA state to hunt some areas I used to hunt in the early 90's when I lived there. What's that you ask? Don't I work? NO! My wife got a CEO position in Billings! And she likes it when I come home from fishing/hunting happy. I guess I'll have to switch over to big game hunting. Hope everyone is having a good season.

Hi William

I live just outside of Glasgow, moved here in 2011 from NJ.
The waters of Fort Peck are wide open at this time its been warmer than normal here.
I was out on the river below the dam on friday with the intention to hunt waterfowl but the river is down about 6-8 ft below what it was last year.
The water is away from any cover so I just scotted. Going to have to use a layout blind to hunt it. Not a lot of mallards yet, lots of buffleheads though.
Up here the colder the better, when it ices up is the time to hunt.

Thanks for the heads up about Ft Peck! I'm floating the Bighorn and the mighty Yellowstone this week. Private message on the way....

Frank - That is funny you said that! I have a fishing client that has a camp on that lake. Definitely on the list. (Also to fish for the big "gulpers" there!)
Thank you -
