More bulkheads...

Here are some more photos of the bulkheads getting fitted. I have to finish modifying bulkhead #4, after the aluminum supplier cut two #5's, and do some work on the outside longitudinals, then I can finally start tacking it all together.

Small side note - watch out for black ice. You don't get to shoot very many ducks when you jackknife your trailer and slam it into a curb.
I also have some mallard reference photos if anyone would like them.
Stay safe,
Neil

I replaced the tongue beam on my trailer once (it was too short for a garvey), I can't see if that'll be easy with your situation. However, since it's a salt water trailer, you may want to opt for replacing it anyway... it's about 10 now?

Boat looks awesome. Your Dad was on the innaugural ride on my boat 5 years ago this month - wow how time flies. Your Dad grabbed the tiller on a cold January day and took us (my friend and I) on a 3.5 mile ride to Prudence Island... As we were out in the middle of the 2-3 footers with absolutely no one around, I said to myself "what if this thing cracks and breaks up, and aren't we supposed to practically idle during the motor breakin period?"... ; ) That was a great day. I miss your Dad.

So, when your new boat is done, please let me know, I want to watch the champagne ceremony.

Great work kid,

A.

Neil since your are a welder fix is easy peasy, cut at the bend get rid of bent metal. weld together. I would put 1/8 plate on the sides and bottom. Stronger than new.

That new boat is looking great. Did you purposely leave one side on the bottom not welded ? or is that a shadow in the picture.

Yes your correct Andrew. Drink milk, lots of it. The dairy farmers in Wis will really appreciate it.( : )

Wis, if we had trailers like you guys in grouse country, they'd last one season - nothing, absolutely nothing destroys more stuff than good old H2O from the Atlantic.

I have to bring my boat to the car wash after every hunt, just to wash the stupid trailer, unless a nearby pond is ice-free.

A buddy of mine was motoring along and his trailer snapped in half on a bridge. On the outside the trailer looked fine.

Nothing (other than the centerline longitudinal) is welded together yet. I need to fit everything in and double check stuff before it all gets tacked.
