No school today so we decided to try the barley field at sunrise. We cancelled our trip to Haines because the forecast was for rain, there's tons of ducks around here this week, and Sara's not doing so good. She's been having accidents in the house. She might have got into some moose bones or something, but I didn't want to leave her for the long weekend. We'll probably go down to Tagish for Thanksgiving which will be really nice.

Mac really wanted to shoot Buffies on the river today, but decided to come along just to see what a morning field shoot would be like. We were covered in birds from 7 :30 to 8:30. Legal shooting was at 7:23 and we were done with four limits by 8:20. It was really windy from the south and all we put out was one spinner decoy - that was enough. Sam, the young fella who shoots a 20 ga, picked a gorgeous greenhead right out of the air - his first.

Jenny did all the work, but Sara was the star. She fetched up two birds that fell about 10 feet from her, and we lost her in the crop for a bit, but she eventually found us and we all came out together.

So I guess Mac's buffy shoot will have to be postponed until tomorrow!

Mike,

Does Mac need any camo? I thought I might take a look through my stuff and get rid of anything Im not using.
Let me know,
Neil

Mac is having a blast this season, being able to shoot his own limit and all.

That is such a nice offer Neil, Mac still hasn't gotten big enough to fit the jacket you sent a few years ago! My wife wears it some times. If you don't know anyone more local to pass clothes on to, I'd love to take it off your hands. We've become a bit of a distributing center for kids hunting clothes, and pass on all the stuff my kids grow out of. My little buddy Derek wears a jacket from Alabama ALL THE TIME.

The weather has gotten absolutely nasty as the day has gone on, and I'm glad we went this morning.
