Beautiful! Was that built off your own design or a Heinrichs (I know he was affiliated with the seaport)?

Thanks! No plans. Just started with the mainboard and frame #7 and went from there. Had two "fairing sticks" to keep everything in line.

Davey, beautiful job, thanks for sharing your build. I have ofter thought of doing this build at the Seaport. Could you share how long your build took and what the cost was. Thanks, great job.

Dave, great photo essay. Love the in-build pictures. Sorry I missed an opportunity to help in it, though I got a kick out of seeing the planking chain clamps I made in some of the pictures 79 and 80. I need to get some more c-clamps from Ron and make him some more, he said they worked well. Need to make myself some too!

I see a Mast step in some of your photos? What is the story there?

Dave

Dave,
thanks so much for the link to the pictures. I dont think I have seen as complete a walk thru of the process for a BBSB. Great job not forgetting to keep taking pictures.

Boat speaks for itself.

I did not realize that the builders down there used the strongback to set the first plank before any frames. Most times you see a set of frames get lined up and then the planking started. Very good idea.
Did you glue the planking together on the edges with epoxy?

I like the fairing tool. I bet that got a workout.

Let us know how she runs on the water.

Again thanks for all the pictures.

I love building boats and I think I am addicted to the smell of that white cedar. Way to keep the tradition alive.

Wow, That is not how I pictured them being built. I have always wanted to try and build one.

Thanks
Craig

Bob W. In theory it should take approximately 5 weeks if you worked on it everyday. It took me 3 months on and off since I work two jobs.

Bob B. We had fun building this the old fashioned way. The boards are all hand planned and fitted with a flexible marine adhesive called Sikaflex.

Thanks again for the comments guys. I found this website back in the spring and it really motivated me to build this boat. I'd have to say it changed my life.

Dave D. Lol. I saw your boat and other sailing sneakboxes and got all nostalgic 1/2 way through the build. Decided I wanted it to be a sailing box too! I just haven't built the dagger box yet. And THANK YOU very much for those chain clamps! They helped a bunch!
