Gary, here is a picture of the sail rig, with the sprit, which seems rather long, it was nearly vertical. I thought the sprit should be angled out more? View attachment sprit rig small.JPG

Your sail has a boom. Without it you would need a sprit with more angle. My rig has sprit only (& it angles out more). Yours will probably perform better/point higher.

great project. for hardware you might want to check bristol bronze in RI. http://www.bristolbronze.com. I believe they have a few of the old bow chalks in bronze
