My latest boat design...

Great looking boat Brad!!! Now that you are done with this one, hurry and get started on the one man marsh boat HA! HA! Shawn

Brad,
Man I'd love to have that boat or it's sister. But alas.....
One question though, is there a particular ratio for mixing graphite into the epoxy? I'd read something about doing that a while back, just couldn't find any new info on it. Should improve amount of run time for gas expended nicely.
Real nice job.

Thanks Shawn, the one man boat is next in line (or possibly a scull boat lol) but realistically either one will probably be completed this fall after I finish up a couple of orders. The nice thing about it taking this long is I continuously roll the idea around in my head trying to come up with the best design that I can. Very little of the Hellcat or NFZ is on paper, but both were built in my head numerous times. Likewise the one man boat keeps getting built :)

There's no real ratio, I use roughly 4oz (volume) to 20 oz (volume again) of epoxy/hardener. Its not really like other fillers, if you get too much it won't thicken or stay in solution it simply settles on the bottom.

What part of the Pamlico did your buds almost sink the Crestliner in ? the original design and construction of your boat is awesome. It should do well Downeast or on any of the Piedmont lakes. I hunt the Pamlico from the north and south shores and I know that it takes a very sturdy boat to survive if you get caught in a bad blow.

Again, awesome boat !

Best,
Harry

Harry they were seaduck hunting about 5 miles off pamlico point. Happened the Thursday before the last Saturday of the season. Coast guard had to come get them, they were luck to get out with only the loss of their gear. To their credit, the weather service was calling for 1-2 picking up to 3 by late afternoon. They started pulling blocks as soon as it started getting rough, unfortunately it ended up being 4-6.

Thanks for the kind words about the boat. This one has probably the best overall finish of any boat I've built, each keeps getting better.

Brad

Joe thanks and the baby is doing well. He's almost 14lbs and when you start out at just over 3.5lbs thats a big improvement. Definitely takes some getting used to though. I'm bound and determined to get done with this boat by Friday, but I think mom and Cole have different plans. Cole has had pink eye in both eyes and is congested, now mom is coming down with the cold part and running a fever so the only time I've been able to work is late at night LOL

Great looking boat Brad, Do you have any pics of the fuse panel as you built it? You do some fine work,I love your ideas

Thanks Charlie, I don't but I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. The small storage area on the bottom is dual purpose, obviously for storage but it is open at the top allowing you to reach up behind the fuse panel/guages if need be. I also left plenty of slack on the wiring so they would be easy to pull out for repair or replacement and not have to be blindly putting back the spade terminals. The cover on the bottom is a cut down radio splash cover that I had left unused from the Hellcat build. It is water resistant but there are drain holes in the bottom for the inevitable water that finds its way into everything inside of a duck boat.

Couple more pictures. The NFZ is mostly done. I still need to do a little fine touch up on paint in the interior, complete the "gun storage" and finish up the dog ladder.
I got a final weight of 600 pounds, a little more than I wanted but still respectable.
Here's a few of the most recent pictures, man I wish I could afford to keep this boat!

My BLF Tilley giving final approval to the dog deck, can't wait to get the ladder done...going to be one slick set up

Another shot of the interior of the running seat/storage. Here you can see the false floor inside of lockable, dry storage. Also, installed is an oboard battery charger.

Looking at the interior, note the hatch covers have been primed with Fusion plastic primer and painted with Parkers to match the boat...

Control central.

The front deck. Again, I had to raise the fill and vent due to the height of the tank but I think the design still flows pretty well with the rest of the boat.

Lastly I'm using some shock cord and connectors to create holders for paddles, pushpoles and life jackets. I've done a couple but still have several to go. I'll also be using some 1" webbing and nexus connectors to create gun storage...

A couple of more shots I haven't posted...

I'll post up a finished product thread in the next couple of days once I put the finishing touches on her!
