My poor doggie...

For those of you who may remember, my faithful Suzy, the almost world famous pup pictured in my avatar, endured a very painful, and long recovering procedure to rebuild her left rear knee.

When we put a deposit on a pick in the upcoming liter, I had such great hopes for us. These hopes never really materialized. If ever there was a perfect poster child for Pet Insurance, Suzy would be a prime candidate. Seems every time we turn around, she is suffering from some sort of medical, or physical malady.

Recently, we noticed a lump on the front of her right foreleg. Not being people who panic, we left it alone, but kept an eye on it. Didn't take long for this thing to increase in size to the point where it was time to schedule an appointment with our newest Best Friend- her Veterinarian. So, early this morning, as the sun began to warm up the Eastern horizon, we are off to see the Dr. We soon arrive at the brand new medical facility, the one where I'm pretty sure her medical payments entitle us to own at least part of a wing, for yet another procedure. Suzy doesn't like this place, and understandably so. Bad things happen here, very bad things.

Around 1:30 I receive a call from the Vet Tech politely telling me that Suzy is awake, everything went well, BUT, the Doctor would like to meet with us when we come to take her home. Experience recalls- this is not a good sign. Being unavailable due to work, my Better Half arrived on time to meet the Dr. and pick Suzy up for the short ride home. When the Doctor spoke to my Wife, she explained that the tumor was considerably larger than it appeared fro the outside. So big that after removing it, the main blood vein that runs down that leg, and all of the mass and muscle, there "wasn't much left".

After all the bad news however, with about ten days of TLC, a bunch of expensive drugs, a LOT of careful rehab, and a little luck, the diagnosis appears good. Soon she should be able to romp with her "Young Dog" companion.

My Wife and I have had six dogs in our married lives together. Unfortunately, Poor Suzy has suffered more, and cost us more, with her medical bills, than all the other dogs put together. With all of this, she is still a very important part of our family, and we would do it all again. I just wish she could realize, it's all for her benefit.

Poor Susie!

If you need some help with Annie for a while, bring her by. We can try to keep her occupied while Susie recovers.

We feel your pain, $3,500.00 for dental work and not on us humans. Insurance might be a consideration next time around.

Kevin- I'd hate to witness Annie teaching Lucy bad habits...

Tod, I hope it has nothing to do with freezing cold water, high winds...

Tom- that's about the figure for the FIRST go 'round.

Thanks guys,

Jon

I fully understand where you are coming from. My best wishes that she fully recovers and that this might be the last significant expense with her. She looks to be such a wonderful companion and family member of the household.

Give Suzy a scratch behind the left ear.
