While cleaning out Jeff's possessions I ran across some decoys he carved before I met him out in his hawk house (he was a master class falconer but hadn't flown any birds in 20 years). He made a rig of ringers and bluebills and gunned them for a few years before retiring them. Among his stuff, and I'm still uncovering things, I found a box full of half finished heads, enough cork to fill up my truck bed several times, patterns, bottom boards, and glass eyes. As a reminder of Jeff and our friendship I put up some shelves at the workshop with his decoys, retired ones as well as never completed. A few of the decoys also on display are from friends I've made though duckboats.net too.
I think they make the shop just a bit warmer and certainly give me satisfaction knowing just one of Jeff's many talents will be seen by anyone that comes in my shop.
