My Shop Needs a Sign

My shop signs are coming along. I decided to do three signs, one on the outside of the shop, and two inside. I ended up going with candidate number 3, the Devlin boat, instead of the BBSB in candidate number 2 for the reason Dave Diefenderfer stated. It will go on the outside and is Black Locust, and let me tell you, that is strikingly beautiful wood. I imagine varnished it will be even better. I also did one on a Black Walnut board for the duck calls I turned in the past (and will do again in the future). The sign not pictured below, candidate number 1 from my original post, is still being routed on the CNC router. Now I just need to varnish and hang them.

CNC router???? isn't that a bit like "cheating" ? I thought this site was all about "old school", "hand carving", etc. [ninja] At least you did not use plastic. [crazy]

Those are sweet and a bit more satisfying than the bathroom vanity I just installed, I?m sure.

Very nice Eric. All classy as can be. No doubt that locust will see many a season and still look great.
I cut into an 80 year old locust post to use one a project, and it was sounds as could be.

Jode

From what I gather the only thing that will get to Locust are certain insects (Tod could tell us more) and that it is one of the most rot resistant woods, along with osage orange, outlasting treated pine by a factor of two or more. I love working with it because you know it is stable, strong, lasts, machines nicely, and needs no help to be beautiful.

Thanks.

Eric
