My Sneakbox Restore

I don't post too much here but thought you guys would like to see my current restore of a Tom Pryer Sneakbox who made Aero Marine sneakboxes on Long Islands western southshore, this is one of his earlier boats. I picked the boat up for free because they guy just wanted it gone. Boat had balsa under the decks and under the floor, and was was super heavy. Split the boat with a sawzall and stripped out all the balsa with a flathead shovel, my hands are full of blisters. Boat is over 150lbs lighter after all the waterlogged balsa was taken out. I always wanted a planing hull sneakbox that was small and lightweight. Next comes adding glass and maybe some ribs but im not too sure yet, and also I am thinking Epoxy might be the best way to go. Enjoy
The day I picked it up....

Tim,

What a Find!! Couldn't you just have an insulator spray some closed cell foam and seal the two hulls together? I would think that it would be more solid than spaced ribs, and it would be fairly unsinkable.... similar to the Boston Whalers.

Hey guys,if there is anyone here who has any interest in the old Areo Marine hull with either the one man or two man tops ,I have the molds and can build to order...thanks Mike

Mike,

While I'm not in the market at this time I do like pictures if you have any showing the finished boat with both decks.

Neat looking boat, I like all the extras, like the oarlock sockets, grassing rails and blind/decoy board sockets?

As for the decoy boards......if you notice the recess on the edge....it allows for the board to be put on with a set of hinges ...which is nice also

super cool - i love these old boats that you guys restore. we just done have many of these old boats up here in the midwest.

Great project and a great boat! I have a Shell Lake Boat that I need to get started on, but it looks like this summer's spare time has passed. I guess it will be next year's summer project!
