Mystic Wooden Boat Show.....

It is only a few weeks away. Any one going this year? It is right in my back yard and is a very nice display of Boats, tools, and Boat Stuff made of wood.

This is right in my back yard. I am game for a small cook out if a handful of folks decide to make a day of it. If you are into boats this is a national level event in terms of variety and volume. My kids love it.

Weather is a bit of a factor for the best enjoyment but it is all there no matter what.

Dates are June 25-27.

I would love to Bob but it's the 1000 mile drive that's a killer. I tried to see the museum in December of 2008 but the only day we had off of hunting, it was closed. That was the only time in my life I have ever been even close to it.

The Mystic Seaport is one of my favorite places to visit. I would love to go to the Wooden Boat Show but unfortunately my daughter is getting married that weekend. I think I had better show up.

I am not certain but my wife and I may be in Mystic the third week in July.

Bob,

Is the cider mill still there. I know its in the area. I can not remember the exact town but Stonnington comes to mind. I remember the steam coming up from the trees on the hill on the north side of I 95.

Hi Bob. I'm supposed to work that day, but I'm seriously considering calling sick that day so that I can attend. I will let you know for sure in the next week. The only downside is I'd probably have to bring my daughter along, and some days thats easy and some days, it ain't!

For the rest of you guys, if you can attend, its a great event. At last year's show I displayed the Devlin Snow Goose that Cheech Kehoe and I built. Sam Devlin was there, and I got to meet him. Bob hosted a superb get together after the show, and it was a great day altogether.

Hmmm....Wooden Boats and the Mythical John Bourbon?

Let me check with my social calendar but it sounds like fun.

Dave,
if you and John are thinking about this keep me posted. I will put it on the kitchen calender which in my house is the word.

Scott,
I have no confirmation from any one. I have a pair of maybes.
I am leaning toward saturday as the day to do it and am happy to put a location together for a pick up grilling and BS session after the show around 5 or 6 in the evening. Mostly weather dependent but not entirely as we could just hang at the shop if the weather is a real bust.

As simple as hot dogs and brats with a burger or two.
Clam Chowder is a possibility.

Any takers?
The show is awesome and I have put up pictures both the last two years.
If you like boats you will see something you enjoy.

Bob, I can commit... and I appreciate very much the effort that goes into getting folks together. Last year's was great.

Let me know if I can help/bring anything.

The wrench may have been thrown in the works tonight as my sons baseball team just won a playoff game and now is in the final game on saturday next weekend.

I will post as soon as I know the time of the game and am hopping it is early so we can still pull off the cook out.

I will be at the show except for the game.

Any other guys on the fence?

Thanks Dave,

Im still in outer space from watching a nail biter of a game.
You are right and it is sat the 26th that we are looking at.

Thanks for that. Now, are you thinking about it?
