Name that decoy....Please!

If this decoy is really that handy with the hens and will tap anything that moves there is only one name it can be.......... Wilt.

Eric

Well, with all the hub-bub around here, I kinda forgot this...There is no distinctly favored choice. I really wasn't going to do a vote on the name too, but maybe that is where we need to go...after all, it is OUR decoy. It appears there was three parties in favor of the following three names:

'Mr. Cash'

'A Drake named Sue'

'Popcorn' (Hitch is right...you guys are wimps!)

So, lets do this quick and easy, from now untill tomorrow (Thursday) 10pm, cast you vote...

Chuck

OK, It looks like there is no choice worthy here, so I go with Sue. My buddy Todd in MO always tells his boys, it was a drake when it hit the water, but it came up a Sue! I say we we send along a Suzie jar with this decoy. Every time you shoot a hen, in goes a dollar...since wimps are usually cheap too.

Hitch

Oh yeah, and even though I listed the previous three front runners, it is still open to all (reasonable) suggestions, previously made or new. Though I am not sure if I would classify 'Popcorn' as reasonable...

Sorry... I screwed up... I should have posted on this string... anyway, a few folks I have spoken with like the name "Adonis"... which was conjured up by a fairly shy DB.net long time Member.

I get a kick out of it...

Oh come on people...you're not going to let McCann get away with naming such a fine decoy something as silly as Popcorn?!?!

He needs a name that shows some class:

Kind of a small fig leaf isn't it?

Even though I didn't really mean it as a name suggestion Sue is growing on me. A song about a boy growing up with a girls name so he grows up tough, doesn't take anything from anyone. Laugh at his name and he will bust your head.
When ducks are hanging in the air right over him instead of "Cut'em!" or "Hamma Time!" you could yell "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do! Now your gonna die!!" I think that is what Tod does already.

Or Mr. Cash is better then Popcorn. If I had a rolling eyes McCann with a mohawk smiley face I'd use it now. :)

Just for that,,,,, I'll vote a second time for Popcorn. ONLY because Chuck has said in the past, "vote early and vote often". so there !!

I may have said that, but you and I both know I can't count anyway.

OK OK Chuck,
if it makes your new job any less stressful after a full 24 hours of mayhem,,,,,
I'll let you count one more for Scotts choice....
even though I am a huge Johny fan.

PopCorn is just nuts.

Okay...for the record I think Popcorn is the gayest name it could possibly have....not that there is anything wrong with it.

I have the dang thing and it's one of the most gorgeous blocks I've ever seen....it makes me quiver with anticipation of next Thursday when I slay some Mah-lards over it in Manitoba.

My wife is so impressed with it that she went to he fabric store and got some green felt and a gold rope....looks like something from Greek Mythology.....she's making a bag. She likes Adonis...I like Adonis, because HE IS AN ADONIS!

But, Mr Cash is pretty good. Suzy Slayer is nice twist because he's such a stud that he'd "slay" the Susies if you get my drift.

Also, in the realm of Popcorn..... Cheesy Poof in honor of the late Vinny Shepard who Ira and Lou knew. He called big studly Greenheads, Cheesy Poofs.

Chuck,

Please register my vote for "Adonis". When I offered the name up it was tongue in check response to some of the other less complimentary names being offered up based on Mallards pollution of other duck's gene pools. I probably would have hit closer to the mark if I had nominated Cyrano de Bergerac. Cyrano's huge nose could almost pass for a bill. To me Pete's Mallard will always be the "one that got away". I first saw him at the CWA decoy day and was impressed. I acquired a black duck from Pete but it wasn't until I had driven off that it hit me - I should have made an offer for the drake too. Next time I saw the mallard it was draped in ribbons at the Cabela's / CWA event. It was obvious that I wasn't the only one who liked it.

"Adonis" does fit the quality of the decoy, And I hope (especially since I get to hunt over him) that he is truly attractive to the hens and the drakes that follow them in!

Scott, that is what I liked about the name, it says about Mallards what many were poking at, yet adds a touch of class and exemplifies what a handsome decoy he is.

To me Pete's Mallard will always be the "one that got away".

Oh...you'll have another chance...
