Navigation app...

Got myself a brand new, latest, state of the art smart phone a couple days ago, (not my first smart phone, just a new one with sufficient memory).

Anybody have any recommendations for a good navigation, GPS type app. There's a bunch out there to choose from.

I haven't used it yet but everyone else at work swears by Wayz. I believe that is what my aunt uses when she is on the road hauling RVs from one place to another as well. Uses little data, updates you with traffic conditions as well as gives you options on routes.

For larger bodies of water Navionics is great. I use it as a backup gps for offshore trips and it has helped me in a pinch in the fog duck hunting too.

I use backcountry navigator for hunting trips.
On the last elk hunting trip I was able to download and switch between multiple layers.
Topographic
Satellite imagery
Forest service roads
Hunting zones
It saved wrestling with a lot of paper maps but make sure you have plenty of battery backup.

Hands down Navionics for duck hunting and marine navigating. I use it for big water as well as marsh running even though the marsh is noted as a hazard I can run a mud boat or paddle a pirogue to spots I have marked in complete darkness and whiteout fog.

Periodic software updates can also include navigational hazards noted by ship and boat captains as well as fishing spots and other things.

The paid subscription is worth 10x's what an annual fee costs. I set my phone to airplane mode and it'll run strictly off GPS and save battery life.

I use Navionics. Some of my runs out into the bay are full of sandbars. So I plot a course and use my phone to help keep my bearing on where I?m at.
