NDR - a few pictures from Thursday

I was returning home from a meeting and spotted a grizzly coming out of the woods on the edge of a small grass landing strip. It was at least 300 yards away. Pulling over the vehicle I jumped out to grab my camera from the back and when I turned around the bear was about 30 yds from me. It must have run across the open ground. Thankfully it was not very impressed with me as a meal and headed across the road away from me.

It headed across a dry river bed and up the slope on the other side.

Just down the road I caught this lady browsing near a lake.

Was in Alaska years ago and watched a grizzly cover ground really quick, impressed me... Keep a good look over your shoulders...

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here is a link to an article about some of the local bears. Although the bear I saw was tagged I didn't get an image of the tag as it was on the opposite ear. He may well have been bear #122 as this is his area.

That is one heck of a griz, Paul. I was always impressed with what bears could do no matter if they were grizzly, black bear or huge Kodiak brown bears. In four wheel drive going up hill or down hill seems to make no difference for them. They can really move.

As for the bighorn ewe I was just thinking about how darn cute that lamb will be pretty soon when she has it. She sure looks healthy.
