NDR - Autoimmune disease, any Rheumatology visit advice?

Glad your visit went well and hope your course of treatment provides relief. Auto-immune is something a number of my extended family members struggles with and its not an easy road, with its many symptoms and manifestations.

"My gosh I didn't think I'm that old but when did all doctors start to look like teenagers?"

Right???? Had a little scare yesterday and had to go to the eye dr. (all good).
My regular doc was not available , got to see a "new" one.
New is an understatement. Looked like a high schooler!!
Same with my urology PA.
Guess we're getting old!

The doctors are getting older and burned out. I like having young doctors, nurses, etc. The ones I have seen for various reasons seem to be very passionate and knowledgeable. We live in a time of medical miracles. When WE get old all the things we should not have done when younger come to call. Ya can't escape that in Geezerhood. Living close to good medical care becomes a priority.

my 2 cents

I have no problem with them other than they make me feel old. 😉😅

I now wish I had done all those things when I was young. I listened to advice about not wearing yourself down too early. Didn't drink until my 30s, never smoked, when I got back in shape I only walked or rode bike so I didn't hurt my knees and hips. No loose women and fast cars. Never jumped off of stupid things just for the thrill. What a waste now. I'd rather have earned my aches then just have them arrive out of nowhere.
I'll be a bad influence from now on. I was trying to get in shape to go rock climbing with my nephew before this all started getting bad. I'm going to do that once my arms feel up to it at all. Next dose of prednisone will not be wasted.

Tim,

I do believe that you'll be fine. "Out of nowhere" is where many of getting older medical issues come from until the doctors and WE dig deeper. Some can be explained and others heck no. We have no idea? But THIS is what we gotta Do to try to correct them. As the best doctors have told me. "We did our job now you gotta do your job." That said we try and then we learn to live with it and make adjustments best we can. Making the adjustments in our lives becomes the difficult part cuz we all recall what we used to be able to do and how we lived our lives. Prayer, good medical care and One Day At A Time has worked so far for me.

There comes a time in yer life IF ya live long enough when first ya feel Old, and then ya feel Ancient. There is a difference...

Best regards
Vince
