NDR but flying - today out my office window

Cool picture.
Any time B/O or other "dignitaries of his" fly into this area of Michigan (Detroit & surrounds, including Selfridge ANG base), the FAA grounds all RC model airplane flying until they clear out of the State. It has proven to be irritating.

Lou,

Funny you should point that out. One of my friends staring out the window with me pointed that out. He said there is a 30 - mile no fly zone around AF1 including RC planes.

The no-fly zone can even extend further since sometimes they haven't "decided" whether they are dropping into Detroit Metro Airport of Selfridge ANG base. Metro Airport is a good 50 miles from us whereas Selfridge is 10 minutes and either place will impose a no-fly in effect.
We also have a small airport within about 5 miles of our R/C flying field and all those planes are grounded during no-fly also.

They're called TFRs (Temporary Flight Rules) ... to disregard as pilot of a small plane is the best way to get a close-up view of a jet fighter. And if you're not tuned into the right radio frequency, you'll get some rather nasty hand signals. No, I don't know this first-hand; but, it was very frustrating when I was still flying pipeline patrol when a VIP got in a bus and the TFRs actually moved across states at a time.

I don't respect the man but I do the office: AirForce 1 flew by the window at noon on his way into Bradley. These were taken from my office. Sorry for the picture quality, my pt & shoot camera doesn't like the tinted windows.

Too bad he doesn't respect the office.......

Was King Obama onboard? Technically, it's not Air Force One unless he is onboard. They have two identical aircraft, both make every trip just in case a backup aircraft is needed. There was a great special on TV about it last year.

Wendell,

CT is O's safety blanket! Where else can he go, get full friendly press coverage and know he won't get protested or even heckled, no mater how whacked he is?

Wendell,
8 more years and we're retiring to Morton's neighborhood. Just as doomed, but a nicer location to meet it.

Obama always shows up in Chicago during rush hours. Flys into O'Hare and then they block of expressways so his motorcad can get him to his buddies downtown. I mean really during rush hour you gotta show up? Oh well nobody said he had any brains or cared about anything but his own agenda.
