NDR - CAD Shareware?

googles sketchup is decent for the basic user. but not if you need something more advanced.

There are several on here who use Paint....
Another program that I haven't tried but free is " Free Ship" that program is boat related.

I want to be able to make quick drawings of parts to build. Ideally I want something where I can create basic shapes, and then input the dimensions and the software will size to scale. I think ProE will do this but is very expensive! And fancier than I need. I wan to draw up more than boats.... TIA, Dave

I would down load Googles Sketch Up and go through the tutorials. It might be what you need. Even if Auto Cad was free, a steep learning curve and paper and pencil would be faster.
Sketch Up is a more intuitive program and worth exploring.

Dave,

Good cad is very expensive but you might try here and see if there isn't something that might work for you.

Hope this helps.

Fortunately I've had CAD access (Solidworks, ProE, UG, and AutoCAD) at work/school since 2003 so I've never considered any freeware. Let us know what you find.
