NDR cause it's fishing season!

Dave, are you heading to Ely, MN with the canoe this summer? If I remember correctly you like the Arrowhead Region.

It is fishing season, indeed! Thanks for sharing those pictures. we used to catch channel cats and blue cats down here in NC. I would love to tangle with some of those salmon and even that walleye!

In the spirit of sharing, here is my stepson Drew, with his first ever NC Red Drum. Down here we call ones this size a "puppy drum."

When that puppy drum took Drew's lure, and started peeling off that line from the reel, I could see Drew's eyes light up. He has never experienced anything like that fishing before.

We were fishing on the Outer Banks of NC, at the south side of Oregon Inlet. The old coast guard station there has a very nice grass bed filled with crabs and small bait fish that the Drum love to eat.

I had fellow DHBP member and decoy carver Colin Fitzpatrick out with me on Sunday and we put a nice bluefin in the boat.

My friend Tom did a great job on the rod and Colin's gaff work finished it off.

They are mean fish! We hooked that one on the one rod in the spread I didn't want to, with the lightest mainline and thus, lightest drag setting...

We don't consistently get the real large giant bluefin off NJ as we did in the past or they do in Massachusetts, but it's still a blast to get out there and chase them.

Here's some video from the trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m829RMYJK1U
