NDR Concrete staining

Does anyone have and experience/suggestions for staining concrete? We are in contract to buy a new home. It has a walkout basement that is finished except for the concrete floor. There are heating pipes in the floor. We are thinking about staining and sealing the lower level floors, about 6-700 sq. ft. There are also two garages, 2-car main floor, 1-car basement. I was planning on an epoxy coating for two car garage that will have cars parked in it. The 1-car garage in basement will be a shop/storage area. I may stain and seal that floor instead of epoxy.

Any suggestions appreciated,

Tom

Tom,
We stained/ painted our garage floor about five years ago with a garage floor paint and it has held up fine. We cleaned and applied as the directions stated. My buddy used epoxy with the flakes and it also has held up great and his looks fantastic.

I've done two floors. One with paint and one with stain. Stain was easier.

To stain you probably need to acid wash it first then poor the stain on, spread it, and you're done. It will get a design naturally as the cement absorbs it differently so you get lighter and darker areas.

Painted floor was acid washed, painted 100% of the floor one color and let it dry, then used a big sponge to add a second color in just a big splotchy pattern on maybe 60% of the floor and let dry, then use the sponge with a different color on maybe 20%. You use more or less colors to make whatever you like.
