NDR-Duckboat Book/Display Shelf

I have seen several shelves made to look like a bow of a boat. Has anyone on here ever made anything similar? I am wanting one to look like a duckboat to display decoys and other random hunting items to put in my trophy room. I know I can make one but don't have all the tools I need. If someone has done this reply to this post or send me a PM. Thanks

Actually I think I have seen a sneakbox book and whatnot shelf in the past. Maybe google images could turn it up. If you come up with something and need access to woodworking machinery let me know. You are welcome to use my garage workshop to machine any wood needed for the project.

I'll take a look, and thanks for the offer! Its sucks not having the tools when you know how to do something.

You got room so I'd say it's high time you started going to auctions and acquiring machinery to tackle all your duck hunting projects.

Tell me about it. This might become a next summer type project, I've got too many irons in the fire right now. If you come across any tools or equipment I could use let me know. I have all the mechanic tools a man could ask for, but when it comes to woodworking I have a drill, circular saw, and orbital sander and that's it.

You know what also sucks? Running out of room and no longer being able to add more tools/machines.
You forgot not having enough time to use the tools you have, much less use the tools you wish you had!

I know the feeling. I've found that after years of collecting all the woodworking tools I need...I can't afford the wood any longer....doh. ;)

Matt,

Run a free ad in Craigslist for a derelict wooden boat, and see what pops up! I think you'll be surprised on what response you get, especially if you want to drive a bit. I've seen a bookshelf made out of a Peterson Pal. The boat was cut in half and stood 6; tall, and looked great. The guy made the shelves out of pine, that he had sandblasted and just "rubbed" with duckboat paint. by using a rag to apply the paint to the shelve, it looked like old weathered boards.

The boat finish, inside and out, was left untouched.

Good luck with your search.

Isn't that the truth. I've spent the better part of the summer farming food plots and have hardly touched anything related to woodworking. I find myself looking more at old farm implements than machinery these days. I need a cultipacker!

Problem is (if you hadn't figured this out) that there aren't enough small cultipacks to go around any more. 20-30 years ago, farmers were selling them for scrap, now days with the influx of food plot growers, hobby farmers, and market gardens, a usable, small cultipack is gold.
