NDR- for you Canon guys new T2i photos of Seals

I took the new Canon EOS Rebel T2i out for a demo shoot this morning. I paired it up with a Tamron 200 - 500mm lens. All photos were taken with no filters just the bare lens while on my duck boat. Water was fairly calm and wind blowing around 10+ kts. Sorry, no ducks or geese in these photos only seals. I was asked to get a bunch of seal photos for a local mammal rescue and rehab center.

The following larger group shots were taken from over 100 yards away

and the dec wants to know why theres no more black backs flounder.....years ago ther weren't seals like this on long island.....
 
Break out the clubs !!! LOL ... that's a joke of course. Great shots man, those seals are just too cool, it would be a treat to see them in the wild. How is the research going?

There has always been seals on the Island. I have been photographing and filming this colony and others for over 20 years. Most people don't even know they are here. The ones that do, put alot of pressure on them. This colony has changed the spot where they haul out 3 times in the last 5 years due to human pressure and harassment. I have watched guys trying to get to close to them and trying to catch them with everything from weighted jigs to anchors. That's right anchors. I had words with 2 guys about three years ago that were running up on top of seals that were in the water and trying to hit or hook them with there anchor and grappling hook. There are some real idiots out there and they did'nt care about the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
The problem with the lack of Flounder has also got to be blamed on fisherman. I don't want to get into any Whale Wars here but there is more than enough blame to go around for low Flounder numbers. I hate to admit it but when I was a kid we used to go out Flounder fishing and fill the boat then come home and give all the neighbors a freezer full of fish. I was very young at the time and was going with a friends father who did not tell us anything about bag limits. It was not untill I was a bit older that I found out that was not the way it is supposed to be.
 
ur right john....no whale wars here... the draggers had alot to do with it too...but in the last two years too the west over here theres alot more seals.... over there too the east by you is loaded... last year i got some good pics of one in the decoy spread... i enjoy watching them when theres no bird flight...
 
I paired it up with a Tamron 200 - 500mm lens. It looks like you have a sharp copy of that lens. How is it for bird in flight photos. FWIW - the exif data shows the lens as a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L/ Shot at 500 mm

It is evident that you found yourself a very nice combination with the Canon and Tamron lens. Enjoyed the pics.
