NDR-Glue question

I need some advice for a little project I have. My daughter has a wooden box with the ashes from her poodle in it. It has a small metal plaque on it. The plaque has come off and she has tried, unsuccessfully, to glue it back on. I would like to get this right the first time. Any suggestions on what type of glue to use?

Thanks,

Tom

A lot of glues and epoxy to choose from but what about plain contact cement. Not likely it needs to be structural, right?

I'd probably use some super glue (rubber cement sounds right, but I've never used the stuff. , and a couple of brass nails... If it's off already, just drill two pilots for your brass nails..if you use nails, you could also probably get away with double sided tape

First, remove any residue from the prior glues. Light sanding should work.

I assume the box is finished. Some glues may not stick to oil based finishes. I know most super glues will not stick long term to poly-something-something coatings. If its finished then a fast curing epoxy will probably be the best thing to use. A very light skim coat to just fill in any surface imperfections on the box after removing the residues.

I recommend the nail/screw approach on a finished wood surface.
